2019 MX-5 Miata Performance Specs

Since the day it was first introduced, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has been a gleaming example of what is possible using a small and well-built engine. For the 2019 model-year, the manufacturer has used a series of new methods to increase how much power is produced by the engine while maintaining fuel economy – but actually improving it.

Overall, the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine makes 17 percent more power, topping out at 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, Mazda engineers have pushed the redline on the car’s tachometer from 6,800 to 7,500 rpm. This was done by making each piston lighter, reducing the loss of exhaust gas and replacing the existing flywheel with a more advanced one that increases the engine’s responsiveness.

New exterior features

Most automakers would have been content to make a car produce more power and call it a day. Mazda took the additional step of improving the exterior aesthetics of the 2019 MX-5 Miata. For the new model year, buyers will be able to choose a brown canvas convertible top as an option that will be matched with black metallic 17-inch alloy wheels.
