What will be different with the 2019 Mazda CX-5?

One of our favorite sources of automotive news and rumors is AutoBlog. These experts have uniquely placed to be on top of the latest news coming from Mazda or any automaker. Last week, reporter Joel Stocksdale wrote a piece that very much got our attention. It appears that some internal Mazda documents leaked online, and Mazda will be adding a turbocharged engine option to the 2019 Mazda CX-5. The crossover SUV is already one of the most dynamic and fun-to-drive models in its class. Adding a turbocharger to the powertrain is only going to raise its profile.

According to Stocksdale’s article, it appears the new turbocharged 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine will only be available on the top two trims of the 2019 Mazda CX-5, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature. The addition to a boost in performance to these models will enhance the noticeably upscale feel the two trims already offer owners.

How much power will it have?

As of right now, there aren’t any indications of how much power the turbocharged 2019 Mazda CX-5 will make. However, it makes sense that it will be on par with turbocharged versions of the Mazda6 midsize sedan and Mazda CX-9 three-row crossover SUV.
