There is a lot to excited about with the redesigned Mazda3 platform. But if we had to distill the changes made by the automaker down to the simplest possible idea, it’s this: The new Mazda3 improves the driver/vehicle interface. Even though it will be equipped with the latest safety and connectivity technology, the driver is still the most important system in the Mazda3.

Among the most important changes made to the new Mazda sedan and hatchback, help improve the driver’s outward visibility and seating position. Not only will these changes make the Mazda3 easier to handle, but the driver will be able to be comfortable and alert on the longest trips.

Powertrain information

Mazda still hasn’t released its official performance specs for the new Mazda3. However, the automaker has announced that the Mazda3 will be one of its first platforms available in the United States with a diesel-powered engine. Mazda has innovated a new take on diesel engines by developing a more efficient way to burn the fuel that provides plenty of performance and efficiency while being cleaner than its counterparts from other automakers.

Owners will also be able to choose between a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The manufacturer’s proprietary all-wheel-drive system will be available in the new Mazda3 which will work in concert with G-Vectoring Control Plus. Drivers will be able to maintain better control when braking in an emergency situation.
